KINGSTON, R.I. – Freshmen Isak Sedin and Franc Gamiz Quer tallied second-half goals, but the La Salle University men's soccer team came up just short on the road against defending Atlantic 10 Champion Rhode Island Wednesday, 3-2.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Rhode Island quickly found the back of the net to go in front in the 11th minute on a goal by Noam Kolakofsky.
• La Salle tied things up at one apiece in the 61st minute when senior Pat McCarthy found Sedin for his first collegiate goal on a shot from 15 yards out.
• However, the Rams immediately responded, with Kolakofsky netting his second goal of the game just 57 seconds later to put the home team right back on top in the 62nd minute.
• Edvin Akselsen later pushed the Rams' lead to 3-1 with a goal in the 89th minute.
• Gamiz Quer scored just 34 seconds later on a dish from sophomore Omari Cotterell with 1:01 remaining to bring it back to a one-goal difference. But the Explorers ran out of time in their comeback attempt.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• The Rams held the upper hand in shots (19-14) and shots on goal (9-2).
• Sophomore Brett Werner made six saves in goal, while classmate Ike Hollinger registered three shots.
