PHILADELPHIA - La Salle men's basketball looks for its fourth straight win on Saturday afternoon, when Fairleigh Dickinson invades Tom Gola Arena at TruMark Financial Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
NEWS & NOTES
•The Explorers are coming off a wire-to-wire win over Wagner on Wednesday evening.
•Junior
Scott Spencer scored a career-high 17 points and extended his streak of making at least one three-pointer in a game to 10.
•Spencer and freshman
Sherif Kenney each went 6-for-6 from the free-throw line, and La Salle attempted a season-high 36 free throws in the game.
•Joining Spencer in double figures were reigning Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week
Isiah Deas (13) and Kenney (13).
•La Salle built a lead as large as 25 in the second half before fending off a late Seahawks rally.
•Sophomore
Ed Croswell returned from a one-game absence (lower body) and had six points and five rebounds.
•The game against the Knights is the middle game of a five-game homestand for the Explorers, who will have a week-long break before hosting Bucknell at The Palestra on Dec. 28.
SCOUTING FAIRLEIGH DICKINSON
•The Knights, who won the Northeast Conference a season ago and went 21-14 overall, have started off the season 2-8.
•Seven of their first 10 games have come away from their home gym, all of which have resulted in losses.
•FDU most recently dropped an 80-65 decision to Princeton at the Rothman Center on Dec. 14.
•Four players average in double figures for the Knights, led by Jahlil Jenkins (15.4 ppg) and Xzavier Malone-Key (13.7 ppg).
SERIES HISTORY
•Saturday's game will be the first matchup between La Salle and Fairleigh Dickinson in men's basketball, despite the fact that the programs have co-existed in the college basketball landscape since 1949-50.
SWEET STROKE
•Junior
Scott Spencer put together a career performance in the win over Wagner on Dec. 18.
•The transfer from Clemson scored 17 points and knocked down three of his eight three-point attempts.
•Spencer has hit at least one three-pointer in every game he has played at La Salle and has knocked won 42.0% of his attempts from deep through 10 games.
•The 6-6 guard ranks fourth on the team in scoring at 9.3 points per game and paces the squad in free throw shooting (85.7%).
