LEWISBURG, Pa. – For the second consecutive day, sophomore
Sara Rizzetto broke a school record at the Bucknell Invitational. This time, she smashed the record in the 400 IM by clocking in at 4:21.26, more than a second faster than Dina Dormer's mark set in 1997. The women's team maintained its position of fifth after the second day at Bucknell.
MEET NOTES
- Rizzetto actually broke Dormer's record twice on Saturday. Her prelim time of 4:21.51 initially set the record and then she broke it again with an even better finals time.
- Despite her historic performance, Rizzetto couldn't quite touch first in the event. She came a few seconds shy of Davidson's freshman Shelby Stanley.
- Sophomore Phoebe Shaya was the other Explorer on the women's side to finish on the podium. Her score of 247.85 was good for third in the 1-meter dive.
- Rizzetto was joined by classmates Anne Moser and Sarah Wyant and freshman Brynn Peterson in the 800 Free Relay for the women's best team finish of the day. The Blue & Gold finished fifth.
UP NEXT
- The Explorers will conclude their Fall semester with the final day of the Bucknell Invitational on Sunday. Prelims begin at 10 a.m.
