Women's Water Polo Drop Final Game of Bruno Classic Against Harvard

PROVIDENCE, Ri. -- Women's water polo lost the final game of the Bruno Classic to Harvard on Sunday. The Explorers hadn't yet won when they came up against the Crimson and remain winless after a 17-0 defeat--albeit to a nationally-ranked team that was 4-0 entering the game.

MATCH NOTES
  • Harvard got off to a fast start with an 8-0 lead after the first quarter; the Ivy League side did most of their damage in the first and second quarters with twelve goals at the half.
  • La Salle showed markedly better defending in the latter portion of the game, allowing only five goals in the third and fourth quarters.
  • Harvard had two quadruple scorers on the day as both Kristen Hong and Mathilde Ribordy found the back of the net four times. Additionally, Quinne Pursell scored twice to give the Crimson three multi-scorers in the game.
  • The Explorers recorded two kickouts drawn and five sprints (all in the third quarter) against Harvard.
WHAT'S NEXT
  • La Salle will be eager to put the shutout behind them as they now look to the Bucknell Invitational for the their first win of the season. They have chances at redemption with two opponents carrying over from the Bruno Classic. The women play Siena and Saint Francis on February 9th and Salem International and Bucknell on the 10th.
