CLAREMONT, Calif – Women's water polo wrapped up their California road trip with a pair of close defeats Saturday. In their first game, they battled Sonoma State to the very end but conceded the game 10-9. In the afternoon event, the Explorers fell to Chapman 15-11.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- La Salle was an even match for the Seawolves throughout the game. They went goal for goal in the first, third and fourth quarters but couldn't overcome the second quarter where they were outscored 2-1.
- Freshman Madelyn Koerper led the Explorers with four goals in the game. She was closely followed by sophomores Sarah DeFusco (three) and Madison Martinez (two).
- Sophomore Jillian Delisle paced the team in assists with three. On the defensive side of things, juniors Stephanie Morales and Jenny Fermaintt, along with Martinez, had team-highs in steals with two each.
- Three Explorers landed multiple exclusions earned—Koerper, Delisle and Martinez all drew two kickouts.
- Along with her steals, Fermaintt impressed in net with nine saves on 19 shots for a 47.4% save percentage. She also added an assist.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- The Explorers trailed after the first quarter 4-3 and never recovered. They were second best in all but the third quarter, which proved their best frame of play. After going into the half down 8-5, they closed the gap to 12-10 while outscoring Chapman 5-4.
- DeFusco was the top scorer against the Panthers with three strikes. Three other Explorers, Martinez, Delisle and junior Katelynn Kubo found the back of the net twice.
- Delisle had a strong all-around game on the stat sheet. She tallied a team-best four assists and was tied for the lead in exclusions earned with five. DeFusco, who also had two assists, was the other teammate with five kickouts drawn.
- Fermaintt found the Panthers a more difficult opponent to prevent from scoring. She tallied eight saves on 23 shots for a save percentage of 34.9%. Notably, the Hoffman Estates native did provide for two goals against Chapman.

- La Salle returns back east to begin MAAC play. Their conference gauntlet begins next weekend in Lexington, Virginia as they play Marist and Saint Francis Brooklyn on Saturday, March 9thand Iona and VMI on Sunday, March 10th.
