PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle softball team (5-12) dropped a pair of games Wednesday afternoon against city rival Penn (9-8). Penn took the first game, 3-0, and the second game, 5-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Quakers took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning and added another run in the second.
INSIDE THE CIRCLE:
- Sophomore Morgan Orlowski (2-6) was credited with the loss as she pitched the complete game. Orlowski allowed two earned runs on eight hits and a walk.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- La Salle only registered two hits in the game.
- Senior Emma Schweigert went 1-for-2 with a walk and a stolen base.
- Sophomore Deanna Pineiro had the Explorers' other hit, going 1-for-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The game remained scoreless through the first three and a half innings before Penn cracked the scoreboard.
- The Quakers scored three in the fourth and two in the fifth.
INSIDE THE CIRCLE:
- Freshman Cailey Joyce pitched the first three innings before senior Marlo Roadcap (0-2) entered for 0.1 innings of work.
- Roadcap was credited with the loss and was responsible for the three runs in the fourth, loading the bases with three walks.
- Joyce reentered to complete the game. She allowed two earned on eight hits and two walks, while recording three punch outs.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- La Salle registered six hits in the game and struggled to score, stranding 10 base runners in the game.
- Six different Explorers notched one hit apiece.
- Junior Emily Conaway and sophomore Ashley Mendenhall each went 1-for-4.
- Schweigert and freshmen Audrey LaBouliere and Natalie Rios all went 1-for-3. The senior added a walk to her stat line and Rios a stolen base.
- Freshman Mackenzie Vogler ended the game 1-for-2.

La Salle opens up Atlantic 10 play this weekend with a three-game series at Saint Louis. The Explorers will play a double header Saturday at noon and 2 p.m. and then a single matchup on Sunday at noon.
