PHILADELPHIA – With two outs and the tying run on third base in the bottom of the seventh inning, junior
Emily Conaway sent a walk off homerun down the right field line to give the La Salle softball team (6-18, 1-5 A-10) its first conference win of the season as it defeated St. Bonaventure (5-17, 2-3 A-10), 6-4.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- St. Bonaventure jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning with a two-run double down the left field line.
- The Explorers answered in the home half of the first, plating a pair of runs on an RBI single from freshman Audrey LaBouliere and an RBI ground out from sophomore Ashley Mendenhall.
- La Salle took the lead for the first time in the third inning. Senior Emma Schweigert hit a sacrifice fly to score Conaway from third. Junior Courtney Shupp was up next and sent a single down the left field line to score Mendenhall from second.
- The visitors tied the game with two runs in the fourth on a solo homerun and a run on an attempt catch a runner stealing second.
- SBU regained the lead with an RBI single in the top of the final frame.
- In the home half, freshman Cailey Joyce reached on an error by the second basemen, eventually making her way to third with two away. Conaway made the Bonnies pay for the error and sent the two out walk off homer over the fence.
INSIDE THE CIRCLE:
- Joyce (4-7) pitched the complete game, earning her fourth win on the year. She allowed five earned runs on eight hits and a walk, while striking out five.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Conaway finished the day 2-for-3 with the walk off long ball, three runs, two RBIs, two stolen bases, and a walk.
- LaBouliere and Shupp each had a base knock and an RBI, with LaBouliere adding a run.
- Mendenhall recorded a run scored and an RBI.
- Schweigert registered a run batted in.
- Sophomore Deanna Pineiro and freshman Mackenzie Vogler each had a base hit.
- Joyce scored a run.

La Salle heads to Lafayette on Wednesday for a doubleheader against the Leopards. The first game is scheduled for 3 p.m. in Easton, Pa.
