PHILADELPHIA – La Salle University head men's basketball coach
Ashley Howard announced on Thursday that
Ayinde Hikim (Washington, D.C.) has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the program for the 2019-20 season. Hikim joins
Christian Ray (Atglen, Pa.) and
Brandon Stone (Alverton, Pa.), who inked NLIs last November.
"We are excited to add Ayinde Hikim to our La Salle basketball family," Howard said. "He comes from a strong prep school program in Mount Zion, where he proved to be one of the best point guards in the nation on the prep school circuit. Ayinde is bringing high basketball IQ, toughness and a winning pedigree to our team -- all qualities that will be valuable for our desired culture."
A dynamic 5-10 point guard, Hikim led Mount Zion Prep to a 28-6 mark, a Great Atlantic Conference championship and appearance in the National Prep Championship Final Four in 2018-19. During the 2019 GAC Tournament, he averaged 36.0 points per game including 47 points in a victory over West Nottingham in the semifinals and 25 in a championship-game win over No. 1 Scotland Campus.
A native of Washington, D.C., Hikim attended Woodrow Wilson High School prior to his prep season. A First Team All-Met selection by the
Washington Post as a senior, he led the Tigers to an undefeated D.C. Interscholastic Athletic Association record and a D.C. State Athletic Association title.
