HOW IT HAPPENED
- VMI opened the quarter with a three goal lead before DeFusco brought one back for La Salle.
- The two teams traded goals to begin the second frame, with freshman Madelyn Koerper netting for the Explorers. The Keydets extended their advantage with two unanswered goals before sophomore Katelynn Kubo brought one back for La Salle.
- VMI began the third quarter with a score, but La Salle countered with two straight strikes to make it 7-5. The Keydets responded with two goals of their own to push it to a four-goal game.
- Both teams split the final quarter, with each exchanging goals twice.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- DeFusco and Koerper were tied for the team-high as both scored twice.
- Koerper led the team in assists with three dishes, followed by sophomore Jillian Delisle with two.
- Three Explorers had multiple exclusions earned in the game, with Delisle, Koerper and junior Stephanie Morales each recording two.
- Junior Jenny Fermaintt tallied 10 saves on 21 shots , along with one steal.
Marist 17, La Salle 12
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Red Foxes and Explorers exchanged goals to start the game. Marist responded with two goals after that to give the Red Foxes a 3-1 lead after the end of the first.
- Both teams began the second frame in the same fashion, trading goals, before the Explorers score two in a row to tie the game at 4-4.
- La Salle and Marist made it 5-5, but the Red Foxes ended the quarter strongly with two goals.
- The third frame was a tale of run. Marist scored first before La Salle countered three to make it 8-8. The Red Foxes ended the period with three goals of their own.
- Marist started the final frame with four goals to stretch their advantage to a seven-goal lead. La Salle would then score three of the next four but Marist would grab the final goal.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Martinez led the Explorers with four goals, followed by Karle Linden on a hattrick. Morales also netted a brace to round out the Explorers with multiple goals.
- DeFusco and Martinez both paced the team in assists with two each.
- Linden led the Explorers with three exclusions earned, followed by DeFusco with two.
- Fermaintt recorded six saves in goal, along with two assists.
