PHILADELPHIA - Four La Salle University sport programs have received NCAA Academic Progress Rate Public Recognition Awards for ranking in the top ten percent of their sport, it was announced recently.
The men's tennis team was cited by the organization for a sixth consecutive year, while women's basketball earned distinction for the second straight season. La Salle women's golf and volleyball were also honored.
Each year, the NCAA honors select Division I sports teams by publicly recognizing their latest multi-year NCAA Division I Academic Progress Rate. The public recognition is based on scores compiled through the 2016-17 academic year.
The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation and provides a measure of each team's academic performance.
