NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 released its preseason volleyball poll on Tuesday, voted on by the league's head coaches. La Salle checked in at fourth with 63 points, trailing Dayton, VCU and Saint Louis.
The Explorers finished third in conference standings last season, posting their best winning percentage since 1981. La Salle defended Tom Gola Arena to the tune of a 9-1 record and, overall, a 9-5 mark in conference play. In the postseason, the Explorers recorded their first ever playoff victory by defeating Duquesne.
The Blue & Gold returns 11 of the 15 players from that team, including reigning A-10 Setter of the Year Kathryn Wood and fellow First Team All-Conference selection Devin Corah. Additionally, the team added three freshmen to bolster the squad.
The A-10 Championship holders, Dayton, were picked to top the standings and received eight first place votes. VCU, who finished atop last season's standings, collected two first-place votes.
