PHILADELPHIA – With a header from junior
Amirah Louketis during the third minute of play, the La Salle women's soccer team (1-1-1) claimed its first win of the season with a 1-0 decision over NJIT (0-2-1) Thursday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Junior Ashley Pyne sent a pass into the box for Louketis who found the back of the net with a header at 2:22 into the game.
- NJIT had a scoring opportunity in the second half to tie things at one, however the shot clanked off the crossbar.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Louketis' goal and Pyne's assist are their firsts of the season.
- Junior keeper Claudia Jenkins recorded two saves on eight shots faced for her first shutout of the year.
- Collectively, the Explorers outshot the Highlanders, 15-8.
- Each team took five corners apiece.
