PHILADELPHIA – Coming off back-to-back wins at home, the La Salle University men's soccer team will hit the road for the second time this season on Saturday when the Explorers take on the Rider Broncs at 7 p.m.

PERFECT AT HOME
  • The Explorers won their third home match of the season on Tuesday behind a 1-0 shutout of the LIU Sharks.
  • La Salle improved to 3-0 at home with wins over Iona, Robert Morris and now LIU.
  • It's the best home start for La Salle since beginning the 2014 season 3-0-1 at home.
  • Furthermore, at 3-1 overall, it's the best start through four games for the Explorers since 2016 when they made an Atlantic 10 postseason appearance.
McCARTHY, BUCKLEY PROVIDE THE SPARK
  • Senior captain Pat McCarthy buried his second game-winning goal of the season in Tuesday's win.
  • Sophomore newcomer Nigel Buckley assisted on the play and now has five points over the last two contests, which leads the team.
  • The La Salle defensive line featuring Franc Gamiz Quer, Luis Puchol, Charlie Collins and Eoghan McGovern limited LIU to just two shots on goal on Tuesday. It marked the first shutout pitched by the Explorers since the 2017 season finale.
MAKING STRIDES
  • La Salle has already matched its win total from last season only four games into this season.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Brett Werner recorded his first collegiate shutout in Tuesday's win. He has a solid 1.25 goals against average and a .737 save percentage through the first four contests.
  • Offensively, seven different players have registered a point and the Explorers have scored nearly half as many goals (6) as they did all last season (15) just four games into the year.
SCOUTING RIDER
  • The Broncs enter the weekend 1-2 overall, with all three matches coming on the road.
  • Rider lost 2-0 to UConn and then shut out A-10 member Fordham, 2-0. The Broncs fell short at Princeton, 2-1, on Wednesday.
  • Pablo DeCastro has two goals, while Clement Bourret has one tally. Mathis Catanzaro also has a pair of assists for the Broncs.
  • Pablo Gatinois has played every minute in goal and owns a 1.33 goals against average and a .733 save percentage.
