Explorers Drop Road Decision at Towson, 3-1

TOWSON, Md. - After a scoreless first half, three goals within a span of 6:33 propelled Towson to a 3-1 win over the La Salle University field hockey team on Friday. The Explorers received a goal from junior Jessica Hewitt late in the fourth quarter but the comeback effort came up short.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • La Salle controlled the entire first quarter, outshooting the Tigers by a 4-0 margin and holding a 2-0 advantage in penalty corners.
  • Junior Rialee Allen had a shot deflect wide of goal, one of her two attempts in the period.
  • The contest went to halftime scoreless, as the Explorers held a 3-1 edge in corners and led the shot battle, 5-2.
  • The third quarter proved to be pivotal, as Towson took the lead less than four minutes after intermission.
  • Beira Ho scored off a penalty corner and then, just 20 seconds later, Kathryn Parkinson found the back of the cage to put the score at 2-0.
  • Parkinson pushed Towson further in front just 32 seconds into the fourth quarter as another penalty corner proved costly for the Explorers.
  • The Explorers fought to the end, with Hewitt cashing in an opportunity in front to cut into the deficit but the late push was not enough.
