PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle University men's soccer team will try to get back on track as the Explorers visit Howard for their final non-conference road game of the year on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
DECENCIO DELIVERS, BUT EXPLORERS DROP 2OT HEARTBREAKER
- Trailing 1-0 in the final minutes of regulation, sophomore Sam DeCencio scored his first goal of the year in the 83rd minute to ultimately force overtime at Fordham on Saturday.
- After a scoreless first overtime, the Rams snuck in the golden goal in the 105th minute to down the Explorers, 2-1, in their Atlantic 10 Conference opener.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Brett Werner made six saves and classmates Omari Cotterell and Nigel Buckley registered four shots apiece.
SCOUTING HOWARD
- The Bison hold a 1-4-1 record through six games thus far and are still searching for their first win at home.
- Howard earned a 1-1 draw at Robert Morris on Sunday, which La Salle defeated 3-1 back on Sept. 7.
- The two teams have both played St. Francis Brooklyn as well, with the Explorers falling 3-0 and the Bison losing 1-0.
- Andres Gomez has a pair of goals for Howard, while Daniel Hart has a goal and an assist.
- As a team, Howard's goalkeepers own a 1.60 goals against average. Carlos Caro has spent the majority of time in goal, but Emery Simon made 11 saves and allowed just one goal in Sunday's draw at Robert Morris.
