Men’s Soccer Begins Three-Game Homestand Saturday Versus Duquesne

PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle University men's soccer team will begin a three-game homestand on Saturday as the Explorers return to Atlantic 10 Conference action against Duquesne at McCarthy Stadium at 7 p.m. Free food will be available to students in attendance courtesy of JD McGillicuddy's as part of the Fall Tailgate Series.

EXPLORERS BOUNCE BACK WITH SHUTOUT WIN

After a heartbreaking double-overtime defeat at Fordham, the Explorers got back in the win column with a 1-0 shutout at Howard on Tuesday.
Sophomore Andrew Weir tallied his first collegiate goal, while goalkeeper Carlos Mora logged a shutout in his first ever appearance in Blue and Gold. Sophomores Omari Cotterell and Tarin Morris picked up assists as well.
La Salle's defense was furious, limiting Howard to just five total shots, with only two on goal, leading to the team's first road win of the year.

HUNGRY AT HOME

La Salle returns to McCarthy Stadium, where the Explorers are 3-1 so far.
At home, the Explorers have already pitched a shutout, against LIU on Sept. 10, while the defense has allowed more than one goal in a game on only one occasion.
The Explorers will also host NJIT on Tuesday, Oct. 1, and Saint Joseph's on Saturday, Oct. 5, to round out the home swing.

SCOUTING DUQUESNE

The Dukes have been impressive through eight contests, entering the weekend with a 6-1-1 record.
The one loss came on the road, however, dropping its first game of the year at Saint Francis (Pa.) on Tuesday, 2-1. Prior to that, Duquesne picked up wins at Robert Morris and Saint Joseph's.
Manel Busquets has carried the team on offense with four goals, including two game-winners, and two assists. Zach Hall has also provided three goals and two assists.
Robbie McKelvey has been strong in net, with a 0.73 goals against average and an .878 save percentage.
