Women’s Basketball Hosts St. Bonaventure for National TV Game

PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle women's basketball team (6-11, 0-4 A-10) will host St. Bonaventure (4-13, 1-3 A-10) on Sunday for a nationally televised game on NBC Sports Network at 3 p.m. The first 200 students in attendance will receive a replica jersey t-shirt and a soft pretzel.
 
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
  • La Salle enters play after dropping its last 10 games, dating back to a loss at Navy on Dec. 1. On Saturday, the Blue & Gold fell to Duquesne, 82-56.
  • November was pleasant for the Explorers as they had their best start in 13 seasons at 6 1. The start included three comeback victories, including two of 16+ against Harvard and Penn State. La Salle's six wins match last season's total.
  • Senior Shalina Miller is tied the program record of 151 career blocks with Amy Griffin '18. Miller is pacing the team with 38 blocks and 2.2 blocks per game. She ranks third in the A-10 in both categories and 22nd and 29th in the nation, respectively.
  • Freshman Claire Jacobs is the Explorers leading scorer with 12.1 points per game. The Aussie is shooting 37.7% from the floor, including 36.5% from long range. She has recorded double-digit point totals in nine games this season with 15+ in seven outings, and 20+ in three games. Her 29 points against UMass are the most ever by a La Salle freshman.
  • Sophomore Kayla Spruill (9.2 ppg) and freshmen Jordon Lewis (7.6 ppg), Amy Jacobs (7.3 ppg) round out La Salle's top four scorers. The quartet are accounting for 59.2% of the team's points this season.
  • Junior Kate Hill has established herself as one of the best ball handlers in the country. The Rutgers transfer is leading the Atlantic 10 in assist to turnover ratio at 2.85 and ranks 12th nationally. Since being inserted into the starting lineup against Villanova, Hill has 45 assists to nine turnovers for an impressive 5.0 ratio and 7.5 assists per game. She also leads the Atlantic 10 in games with 7+ assists this season at four. The next highest has three.
  • La Salle is averaging 61.3 points offensively and is allowing opponents 68.9 ppg.
SCOUTING THE BONNIES:
  • St. Bonaventure enters play at 4-13 overall and 1-3 in league play under fourth-year head coach Jesee Fleming.
  • Bona is averaging 58.8 points per game and allowing its opponents 54.5 points on average.
  • Asianae Johnson is leading the team with 11.4 ppg, followed by Dajah Logan with 10.6 ppg.
  • Johnson is also the team's leading rebounder, corralling 5.4 rebounds per contest.
THE SERIES:
  • La Salle holds the all-time record, 16-15, dating back to 1991. The Explorers claimed the last five meetings in this matchup and are 9-5 against the Bonnies at home.
