PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle men's basketball team looks to snap a three-game skid when it travels to Richmond for a midweek Atlantic 10 showdown on Wednesday. NEWS & NOTES
•The game rounds out a stretch of four road contests in five games for the Explorers.
•This past Saturday, senior
Isiah Deas scored 19 points and led a rally that turned a 14-point deficit into a one-point lead on two occasions against Rhode Island.
•Ultimately, the comeback fell just short in a three-point defeat.
•Deas stands two points shy of 900 for his career and has a chance to become the 58th player in La Salle men's basketball history to reach the 1,000-point plateau.
•Junior
Scott Spencer posted 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting, including a 4-of-5 showing from three-point range against the Rams.
•Spencer is now shooting a team-best 40.8 percent from three to rank sixth in the Atlantic 10.
•Sophomore
Ed Croswell grabbed a team-high nine rebounds in the game at URI, marking the 10th time this season he's lead La Salle in rebounding.
•Six of Croswell's nine rebounds were offensive, and the 6-8 forward currently ranks fifth nationally in offensive rebounding percentage (17.7%).
SCOUTING RICHMOND
•The Spiders have won four of five in Atlantic 10 play and are coming off a 97-87 win over George Mason on Saturday.
•Grant Golden had 25 points on 10-of-13 shooting to lead four Richmond players in double figures.
•Jacob Gilyard added 20 points in the road victory and ranks fifth nationally in steal percentage (5.2%) and leads the A-10 at 3.3 steals per contest.
•Gilyard also stands second in assists per game (5.7) and sits atop the conference in assist-to-turnover rate (3.2).
•Blake Francis, who leads the team in scoring at 17.6 ppg, is expected to miss the contest due to injury.
3-D EFFECT
•La Salle has been one of the top teams in the country in defending the three-point field goal in 2019-20.
•The Explorers have allowed opponents to shoot just 29.3 percent from deep through 17 games, good for 36th nationally and third in the Atlantic 10.
•Rhode Island shot just 23.5 percent from beyond the arc on Jan. 18, and only one team this season (UMass -- 9-for-16 on Jan. 8) has shot above 40% in a single game.
•Richmond enters Wednesday's game as the top three-point shooting team in the conference at 37.3 percent, which ranks 29th nationally.
BENCH MOB
•The Explorers rank 37th in the country, according to KenPom.com, in bench minutes per contest.
•La Salle's reserves average 38.0 percent of the minutes played per contest, which is well above the NCAA average of 31.0 percent.
•Only Fordham (43.5%) has a bench that averages more minutes per game in the Atlantic 10.
