Men's Basketball Succumbs to Richmond on the Road

RICHMOND, Va. - Freshman Sherif Kenney scored a career-high 19 points but it was not enough as the La Salle men's basketball team dropped a 75-57 decision at Richmond on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Richmond jumped out to a hot start, opening up a 10-0 lead in the first few minutes of the game.
  • La Salle struggled in the early going, missing its first four shots and committing three turnovers over the opening stretch.
  • Kenney broke the drought with an old-fashioned three-point play and closed the opening half with team highs in points (8), rebounds (4) and assists (2).
  • UR ended the first half shooting 52.2 percent and held a 35-19 lead at intermission. Grant Golden and Tyler Burton had 10 points apiece.
  • The Spiders continued to extend their lead in the second half, using an efficient offense that resulted in a 12-for-17 (70.6%) performance from the field in the stanza.
  • Kenney did his best to keep the Explorers in it, scoring 11 of his career-high point total in the period but UR was able to keep a double-digit margin the rest of the way in improving to 15-4 overall and 5-1 in A-10 play.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • For the game, Richmond shot 60.0 percent from the field, which ranks as the best shooting percentage against La Salle this season.
