PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle women's basketball team (6-8, 0-1 A-10) fell to Dayton (8-7, 1-0 A-10) on Saturday afternoon, 98-58. Freshman
Jordon Lewis and sophomore
Kayla Spruill each scored in double figures, while junior
Kate Hill dished out nine assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Dayton paced the first frame with a 31-11 lead.
- La Salle trimmed the Dayton lead in the second stanza as it outscored the Flyers, 22-16. The quarter included an 11-2 run for the home team over the final 2:58. Dayton led, 47-33.
- Dayton regain ground in the third period with a 20-12 margin to push its lead to 67-45.
- The Flyers closed the game with a 31-point fourth quarter to seal the victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Lewis dropped 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting, including 2-of-3 from long range.
- Spruill added 11 point on 3-of-6 shooting and a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line.
- Senior Shalina Miller corralled a game high seven rebounds and two blocks. She also scored six points.
- Hill finished with a 9 to 1 assist to turnover ratio to improve her league leading rate.
GAME NOTES:
- With her two blocks, Miller moves into sole possession of second place all-time, passing Linda French '87. She is now four shy of tying Amy Griffin '18 for the all-time mark of 151.
