COLLEGE PARK, Md. – La Salle made a season-high 14 three-pointers and four scored in double figures as the Explorers pushed the Maryland Terrapins in an 84-71 defeat on the road Tuesday night. Sophomore

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Senior David Beatty knocked down a three-pointer to give the Explorers a 3-2 lead just over a minute into action, but two buckets for Galin Smith pushed the Terrapins ahead by three.
- A jumper from Clark brought the difference back to one, 6-5, with 17:05 until halftime before Maryland rattled off a 14-4 run to make it 20-9.
- Gill ignited a 9-2 run for the Explorers with a layup, while freshman Jhamir Brickus hit a jumper, found Kenney for a trifecta and put home a layup to make it 22-18 Maryland with 9:31 to go until the break.
- After the Terrapins rushed out to a 30-21 advantage, Gill made a pair of free throws and a layup to bring La Salle within five 3:48 before halftime, 30-25.
- From there, Maryland ended the half on a 10-0 run to head into the intermission up 40-25.
- Moore hit two from beyond the arc and Clark scored seven points to bring the Explorers back within 10 after a 13-6 run for La Salle, making it 48-38 with 15:37 on the clock.
- The Terrapins pushed it back to a 14-point lead, and then the Explorers battled back with a 7-0 run as Kenney made two foul shots and a layup before finding senior Scott Spencer for a triple to make it 52-45.
- After a Hakim Hart three, Gill nailed a jumper to bring the deficit down to eight, 55-47, but Maryland responded with the next six points.
- Gill, Spencer and Moore all hit from downtown to keep the Explorers in striking distance, down by eight with 6:38 to go, 65-57.
- A jumper by Spencer kept La Salle within nine, 68-59, however, Maryland pushed a 10-3 run late to hold off the Explorers.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The 14 three-pointers made by La Salle are the most since the Explorers made 15 on Nov. 16 of last season against Temple.
- Moore was perfect from beyond the arc, knocking down 3-of-3 on his way to a career-high 12 points, while Kenney matched his career high in threes, going 4-for-6 from deep. Brickus tied his career best with eight assists, and sophomore Christian Ray grabbed a season-high nine rebounds.
- Maryland held a 44-14 points in the paint advantage and scored 16 points off La Salle turnovers. Eric Ayala led the way for the Terrapins with 23 points.
