PHILADELPHIA – After a 17-day hiatus, the La Salle women's basketball team (2-3) returns to action on Monday as it travels to Coppin State (0-1) for a 1 p.m. tipoff.
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
- La Salle enters play at 2-3 overall after a tough loss to Howard.
- Sophomore Claire Jacobs is leading the team with 15.5 points per game on 42.0% from the floor and 39.1% from long range. She's also second on the team in rebounding with 4.5 on average. This season, Jacobs has scored 16 points or more in three of her four games.
- Juniors Kayla Spruill and Molly Masciantonio are tied for second with a 9.8 average after five games. Spruill also leads the team in rebounding with 6.2 per outing.
- An additional five Explorers are adding 4.0 or more points per game.
- Senior Kate Hill is handing out 3.6 assists per game this season and holds a 3.00 assist to turnover ratio. Her assist to turnover ratio is third in the A-10 and 37th nationally.
- Overall, the Blue & Gold are scoring 66.0 points per game and allowing 72.4. The team is shooting 35.8% from the field, 31.2% from three-point range, and 76.8% from the line.
- The Explorers currently lead the Atlantic 10 in three-point field goal defense and free throw percentage.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES:
- Coppin State enters play at 0-1 after falling on opening day (11/25) at Penn State, 84-45. The Eagles have not played a game in over a month.
- Aliyah Lawson led the team with 12 points in the opener against the Lady Lions.
- Collectively, the group shot just 25.4% from the floor, 16.1% from deep, and 40% from the stripe.
SERIES HISTORY:
- La Salle holds the all-time record against Coppin State, 2-0.
- The teams last met a year ago as the Explorers downed the Eagles, 79-46, inside Tom Gola Arena.
