BRONX, N.Y. – The La Salle women's basketball team (9-13, 3-6 A-10) pulled within one possession on multiple occasions, but could not complete the comeback against the reigning Atlantic 10 Champion Fordham Rams (13-8, 5-3 A-10), falling 62-45.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Frodham jumped out to an 8-2 run over the first 5:16. Junior Deja King had the lone Explorer basket. The Rams continued to hold a slight advantage with a 9-6 conclusion of the frame. King and rookie Claire Jacobs were tied for a game high four points.
- La Salle chipped away at the Rams' lead in the second stanza. The Blue & Gold outscored the home team, 17-10, on 6-of-12 shooting to pull within four. Graduate student Carley Lytton drained two of the Explorers' five threes on the run.
- The Rams pushed their lead back to nine points after an 8-3 margin over the first 5:18 of the third stanza. La Salle rallied over the next 1:17 for an 8-0 run to cut the margin to one, seeing four points from senior Shalina Miller and a pair each from C. Jacobs and rookie Jordon Lewis. Fordham ended the period with four unanswered to hold a five point lead.
- The home squad pushed its lead to double digits with a 10-4 differential through the opening 5:14 of the final quarter. Fordham sealed the game as it scored 11 of the final 15 points.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- C. Jacobs led the Explorers with 11 points on 5-of-13 shooting.
- Miller corralled nine rebounds for a team high.
- Lewis was the team's next highest scorer with seven points.
- Junior Kate Hill recorded four assists to one turnover from the point.

La Salle will enjoy its bye week with no mid-week game this upcoming week. The Explorers are back in action on Sunday, Feb. 9 as they host Richmond at 2 p.m. inside Tom Gola Arena.
