PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle University Department of Athletics and TruMark Financial® Credit Union are teaming up to implement a financial literacy education program for all La Salle student-athletes.
The comprehensive curriculum, to be introduced to all Explorers this semester, will span four years of a student-athlete's career and feature 16 modules designed to educate students on making responsible fiscal choices while in college and after graduation.
"We couldn't be more excited to partner with TruMark Financial on this initiative that will provide another transformational opportunity for current and future Explorers," Director of Athletics & Recreation
Brian Baptiste said. "It is imperative that our student-athletes are provided a strong foundation of financial knowledge that will help put them on a path to self-assurance when it comes to managing money as college students and graduates."
Upon arriving to campus, student-athletes will complete a survey to assess their financial literacy and determine the most-effective delivery of the financial education content provided by TruMark Financial. Topics covered in the program range from outlining different financial account types to understanding investment strategies to the home-buying process.
"Higher education is an investment in a student's future," Vince Market, TruMark Financial's EVP, Chief Operating Officer said. "TruMark Financial looks forward to working with La Salle University's students to educate them on the fundamentals of saving, borrowing, and investing, so they have the tools needed to make informed financial decisions and manage their money responsibly during their educational years and after they graduate."
