SAINT LOUIS, Mo. - The La Salle University men's basketball team returns to action on Saturday afternoon in a rematch with Atlantic 10 foe Saint Louis. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. ET, with all of the action airing live nationally on NBC Sports Network. Paul Burmeister and Dave Kaplan will have the call.
NEWS & NOTES
•The first matchup between the two teams was an overtime thriller at the end of January, with the Billikens taking home a 77-76 win at Gola Arena.
•The Explorers trailed by as many as 13 points in the second half but rallied back to force overtime after two free throws from sophomore
Ed Croswell with 31 seconds left.
•In that extra session, La Salle had possession down one with less than a minute left and had three chances to take the lead for good but could not convert.
•Croswell posted new career highs with 24 points and 18 rebounds, including nine at the offensive end, while senior
Isiah Deas tallied 20 points.
•In La Salle's most recent outing, freshman
Sherif Kenney had 14 points off the bench but the Explorers could not get untracked in a loss to Richmond.
•Overall, La Salle shot 29.8 percent from the field, its lowest single-game mark of the season, and shot a season-low six free throws.
SCOUTING SAINT LOUIS
•The Billikens dropped a 71-65 decision at No. 6 Dayton on Feb. 8, putting their record at 17-7 overall and 6-5 in Atlantic 10 play heading into Saturday's game.
•Two players are averaging double-doubles for SLU -- juniors Jordan Goodwin (15.3 ppg, 10.3 rpg) and Hasahn French (12.3 ppg, 10.8 rpg).
•Despite not starting a game during league play, Javonte Perkins paces the team in scoring through 11 A-10 games at 16.5 ppg.
•Saint Louis holds an 11-3 record at Chaifetz Arena this season, with two of those three losses coming against nationally-ranked teams (Dayton, Seton Hall).
•The Billikens lead the Atlantic 10 in team field goal percentage defense, holding opponents to 40.6 percent shooting.
ALL-TIME SERIES - SAINT LOUIS (SLU LEADS, 17-9)
•This will be the 27th all-time meeting between La Salle and Saint Louis.
•La Salle is 3-7 all-time on the road against Saint Louis and has dropped its last five road games in the series (last win -- Feb. 9, 2011 (78-77)).
•The two teams have met every season since 2005-06.
•The first ever meeting between La Salle and Saint Louis was in the 1951 NIT.
•La Salle beat Saint Louis twice during its 1953-54 NCAA Championship season.
•This season at Tom Gola Arena, the Explorers battled back from a double-figure deficit in the second half to force overtime but fell by a point, 78-77.
