PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle University men's basketball team looks for the season sweep of Fordham as it hosts the Rams at Tom Gola Arena on Wednesday night.
The contest is the second half of a doubleheader with the women's team, and is scheduled to tipoff at 8:00 p.m. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+. The game will also follow the first half of a basketball doubleheader that features La Salle's women's program taking on VCU at 5:00 p.m.
The Hideaway Tent is open 90 minutes prior to tipoff of the men's game, with food and beverage available to patrons just outside of TruMark Financial Center. In addition, beer and hard cider will be sold in the Mezzanine Level of the building, starting 60 minutes before game time for the men. Details on the alcoholic beverage pilot program are locatedÂ
here. All patrons in attendance will receive a free 16 oz. hard plastic cup, courtesy of La Salle Athletics, following the men's game.
NEWS & NOTES
•In the earlier meeting between the two teams on Jan. 5, three Explorers scored in double figures including 13 points from both senior
Isiah Deas and junior
Scott Spencer.
•Junior
David Beatty tallied 11 points, while four different players had a team-best three assists.
•La Salle jumped out to a 14-point halftime lead and fended off a late charge by the Rams to pick up the A-10 win.
•Despite outscoring Saint Louis in the second half, 45-39, the Explorers dropped a road decision to the Billikens in their latest contest on Feb. 15.
•Spencer and freshman
Ayinde Hikim each tallied 17 points, with Spencer's total matching his prior career mark and Hikim setting a new personal best.
•On the season, Spencer is shooting 41.0 percent from three-point range to rank sixth in the Atlantic 10.
•Sophomore
Ed Croswell also ranks among the A-10 leaders in field goal percentage (60.0% - 2nd) and rebounding (7.9 - 7th).
SCOUTING FORDHAM
•The Rams enter a game behind the Explorers in the league standings and are coming off a 59-54 loss to Duquesne on Feb. 16.
•Antwon Portley came off the bench to score a team-high 16 points while Ty Perry added 15 points for Fordham.
•For the year, Jalen Cobb is the top scorer on the squad at 11.3 points per game while Chuba Ohams had ranked second at 11.0 ppg before suffering a season-ending injury prior to the first contest between the two schools.
