Women's Water Polo | February 20, 2020

PRINCETON – Women's water polo (5-7) fell to Princeton on Thursday night, 12-3. The Explorers received goals from three different players: juniors Sarah DeFusco and Madison Martinez and sophomore Madelyn Koerper.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Koerper opened the scoring to give La Salle an early lead. The Tigers countered later in the quarter to finish the first 1-1.
• Princeton opened the game up in the second, outscoring the visitors 5-1.
• Out of the break, DeFusco slipped away from two defenders to score and bring the game to 6-3. Three straight scores by Princeton pushed the lead to six heading into the final frame.
• The home side tallied all of the goals in the fourth to win 12-3.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• Martinez and Koerper finished tied for the team-high in points with two, each recording an assist.
• In addition to scoring, DeFusco made her presence felt on defense with team-bests in steals (two) and blocks (two).
• Junior Jillian DeLisle picked up an assist and paced the Explorers in exclusions earned with three.
• In net, freshmen Caitlin Valentine and Emma Gurasich split the halves. Each goalkeeper finished with six saves on the night.
