PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The La Salle men's soccer team returns to McCarthy Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 2 to take on Atlantic-10 rival VCU at 7 p.m.
The Explorers are currently 2-1 when playing at home.
ABOUT THE EXPLORERS:
- La Salle enters the game with a 3-6 record overall, most recently dropping the road contest against Duquesne, 3-0.
- The Explorers let the Dukes take an early lead with back-to-back goals in the first four minutes of play.
- Omari Cotterell tried to keep La Salle in the game ripping off a team-high five shots at the Duquesne net but was unable to get past the Dukes' defense and keeper Domenic Nascimben.
- Duquesne sealed the deal with its third and final goal before halftime.
- Nigel Buckley and Junior Nare lead the scoring effort for the Explorers with three goals apiece this season.
ABOUT RAMS:
- VCU enters the game with a record of 5-3-1 most recently falling to Virginia on the road, 3-1.
- The Rams scored first in the 38th minute when Varela Fraga collected a rebound and made a left-footed attempt at the net for the goal.
- Virginia answered back in the second half with back-to-back goals in the 69th and 71st minutes for the 2-1 lead. The Cavaliers sealed the deal in the 81st minute with their third and final goal of the game.
- Celio Pompeu leads the VCU offense with a team-high three goals and eight points.
