PHILADELPHIA – La Salle men's swimming will continue their season on the road Saturday, Oct. 16 when they head to Newark, N.J. for a meet with New Jersey Institute of Technology.
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
- After kicking off their season in the Catholic Invite in Chestnut Hill, Ma., La Salle returned to Kirk Pool on Oct. 8 for their first home meet of the season against Drexel.
- The Explorers dropped that matchup with the Dragons 167-94.
- Senior Zachary Wolbert picked up an individual win for the Explorers in the meet, finishing first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:45.54.
- La Salle's 400-yard freestyle team of Wolbert, Alex Kuriawa, Zack Miller, and Trenton Burr placed second, clocking in at 3:08.96.
- Burr placed second in the men's 100-yard backstroke with a time of 51.67, just 0.3 seconds off the lead.
- Divers Steven Stasolla and Sam Henninger were dominant once again for the Explorers, as the pair finished first and second in both the one-meter and three-meter competitions.
- Stasolla took home the win in the three-meter with a score of 288.15, while Henninger placed second with 273.83.
- In the one-meter, Henninger lead the pack with a score of 303.60, while Stasolla finished just behind him at 271.27.
SCOUTING THE HIGHLANDERS:
- After finishing with an 0-3 record in meets before placing third in the America East Championships, Saturday's meet will be the season opener for NJIT.
- The Explorers and Highlanders faced off on March 6, 2021, with La Salle taking home a 129-76 win.
- Leading NJIT is sophomore Ian Horstkamp-Vinekar, who was named the Most Oustanding Rookie of the Meet after claiming seven total medals at the AEC Championships.
- In total, the Highlanders took 21 medals, with 11 gold, five silver, and five bronze in last year's championships, and welcome back four of the five swimmers who secured those medals in 2021-22.
