BOONE, N.C. – The La Salle field hockey team (6-8, 3-2 A-10) completed their North Carolina trip on Sunday afternoon, falling in a non-conference game at Appalachian State, 3-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- App State opened the scoring 8:31 into the game, as Sarah Farrell scored on a feed from Sterre Molkenboer to give the Mountaineers an early 1-0 lead.
- Junior Samie Hackman leveled the score at 1-1 for the Explorers, scoring her first goal of the season just before the end of the first quarter.
- The Mountaineers regained the lead in the third, as Friederike Stegen scored her third goal of the season to give App State a 2-1 advantage.
- The Mountaineers doubled their lead in the fourth, as Sydney Lee scored at 48:48 to extend the App State lead to 3-1.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- App State held a slight edge in shots, 11-10, while La Salle led in shots on goal, 7-5.
- The Explorers attempted just one penalty corner, while the Mountaineers attempted four.
- With Hackman's goal, La Salle has now had 13 different players record goals in 14 games this season.
- Sophomore Ryan Curley (6-8) made two saves in goal for La Salle.
