Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Fall in Home Opener with Drexel

Women's Swimming and Diving | October 8, 2021

PHILADELPHIA - La Salle Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving opened their home slate on Friday, Oct. 8 with a home meet against Drexel. The women's team (0-1) fell by a final of 168-130, while the men's team (0-1) lost 167-94 at Kirk Pool. 

HOW THE SWIMMERS FINISHED:
  • Anne Moser picked up the first win of the day for La Salle in the women's 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:34.81.
  • In the men's 200-yard free style, Zachary Wolbert placed first with a time of 1:45.54.
  • Toni Rafferty's 2:11.74 was good for the top spot in the women's 200-yard butterfly. 
  • Sara Rizzetto picked up a win in the women's 200-yard individual medley, clocking in at 2:10.60.
  • In the women's 400-yard freestyle relay, the Explorers' team of Rafferty, Brynn Peterson, Moser, and Rizzetto finished second with a time of 3:35.76.
  • La Salle's team of Alex Kuriawa, Zack Miller, Trenton Burr, and Wolbert placed second in the men's 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:08.96.
HOW THE DIVERS FINISHED:
  • In the women's one-meter, La Salle took the top four spots led by a first-place finish from Julie D'Amore at 240.60. 
  • Phoebe Shaya follwed in second at 234.90, while Erica Kenski slotted in third with a score of 229.75.
  • Kaitlyn Smykowski's exhibition score of 244.95 led the entire event. 
  • In the men's one-meter, Sam Henninger picked up his second win of the season with a score of 303.60. 
  • Teammate Steven Stasolla followed with a mark of 271.27, as the Explorers took the top two spots. 
  • In the women's three-meter, Shaya, D'Amore, and Kenski took the top three spots with scores of 290.10, 268.27, and 248.62 respectively. Smykowski's exhibition score of 229.80 would have placed her in fourth in the field.
  • In the men's three-meter, Stasolla and Henninger again took the top-two spots, led by Stasolla's 288.15, followed by Henninger's 273.83.
UP NEXT:
La Salle men's swimming & diving will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 16 when they head to Newark, N.J. to take on NJIT. The women's team will be in action next on Saturday, Nov. 6 when both teams take on Seton Hall at Kirk Pool.
