La Salle Hosts Lafayette on Tuesday Night

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The La Salle women's basketball team returns to Tom Gola Arena this Tuesday, Nov. 23 to host the Lafayette Leopards at 6 p.m. All fans who bring a canned good to the food drive will receive free admission.
 
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
  • La Salle will take on Lafayette for the 13th time overall on Tuesday night. It will be the seventh time that the Leopards have made the trip to Philadelphia and the first times the two teams have met since 2017.
  • La Salle returns to the court following a victory at home against Niagara on Saturday afternoon. The Explorers took an early lead in the first quarter that they would not relinquish the rest of the game leading by as many as 17 in the third frame. La Salle recorded its highest scoring game of the season, defeating the Purple Eagles 83-71.
  • Junior Jordon Lewis led the scoring effort for the Explorers with a season-high 16 points, marking her first double-digit scoring effort of the season. She shot 6-of-7 from the field and 4-of-5 from the line.
  • Senior Kayla Spruill notched her fourth-straight double-digit scoring effort shooting 5-of-8 from the field, 2-of-4 from deep and 3-of-3 from the line for 12 points.
  • Junior Claire Jacobs contributed 15 points in the game, tying her season high, and six boards, a new season high.
  • Christina Kline and Jaye Haynes led the rebounding effort for the Explorers with seven apiece. Kline pulled down a team-high seven defensive boards.
  • The Explorers out-rebounded their opponent 47-40 and shot their highest field goal percentage of the season, 44.6%.
  • The squad is shooting 35.5% from the floor, 29.4% from the long range and 76.6% from the line.
 
SCOUTING THE LEOPARDS:
  • Lafayette enters the contest Tuesday night following its first victory of the season on Saturday, Nov. 20 at home against Siena. The Leopards snapped a three-game skid with the win.
  • Sophomore Makayla Andrews currently leads the scoring effort this season averaging 12.5 points per game and recording double figures in all four contests.
  • Freshman Claire Gallagher is averaging 12 points per game and is shooting 60.0% from the field and 66.7% from deep.
  • Senior Makaila Wilson averages 9.8 boards per game pulling down double digits in two of the Leopards four contests this season.
  • As a group, Lafayette is shooting 36.8% from the field, 29.5% from deep and 66.7% from the line.
 
SERIES HISTORY:
  • La Salle currently leads the all-time series against Lafayette 9-3. This will be the second time Leopards head coach Kia Damon-Olson will face the Explorers and the first time La Salle head coach Mountain MacGillivray will face Lafayette. Damon-Olson is currently 0-1 against La Salle.
  • The Explorers hold the advantage over Lafayette when playing at home, 4-2, recording their last win at home on Dec. 16, 2008.
  • The two teams have not faced off since they last met at the Kirby Sports Center on Nov. 10, 2017 where La Salle snapped a two-game losing streak in the series with a 74-47 victory.
  • Neither roster hosts any players from the last meeting between the teams.
