PHILADELPHIA - After an 11-day layoff, the La Salle University men's soccer team will return to action on Wednesday when the Explorers visit Massachusetts for its Atlantic 10 Conference opener.
IT'S BEEN A WHILE
- The Explorers will certainly be well-rested as their last game was Saturday, March 6, a 3-1 home win over Drexel.
- La Salle was supposed to open A-10 play this past Saturday against Rhode Island, but the game was postponed due to COVID-19 issues within the URI program.
- The Explorers are currently riding back-to-back wins, outscoring Mount St. Mary's (Md.) and Drexel 8-4 over those two victories.
NAHHH-RAY
- Freshman Junior Nare has come on strong during this two-game winning streak, earning back-to-back Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors in the process.
- Most recently, Nare led the Explorers to victory over Drexel with a two-goal performance, scoring the opening goal in the fourth minute and seasling the win with a second in the 83rd minute.
- Over his last two games, the South African forward has seven points on three goals and one assist.
SCOUTING UMASS
- The Minutemen have gotten off to a very strong start with a perfect 4-0 record thus far.
- UMass is 3-0 at home as well and has three shutouts to its credit over Northeastern, Hofstra and Albany.
- The last time out on Thursday, the Minutemen defeated UMass Lowell, 4-2.
- The Minutemen are led by goalkeeper Marvyn Dorchin, who has given up just two goals all season with three clean sheets and an .875 save percentage.
