Field Hockey Suffers 2-1 Defeat to Lock Haven

PHILADELPHIA - Sophomore Natalie Biliunas scored the first goal of her collegiate career in La Salle field hockey's 2-1 loss to Atlantic 10 foe Lock Haven on Friday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Explorers got off to a red-hot start, working a penalty corner within the first two minutes of the contest.
  • Freshman Tatum Johnson sent a ball far post that found the stick of Biliunas, who tipped it home to give La Salle an early lead.
  • The lead was short-lived, however, as Lock Haven registered the equalizer less than three minutes in on a goal from Jazmin Palma.
  • Early offense continued in the eighth minute, when the Bald Eagles took a 2-1 lead thanks to Allison Horton.
  • From there, La Salle had the better run of play the rest of the way but could not convert in the scoring area.
  • In the second half, the Explorers outshot the Bald Eagles, 3-2, and had a decisive 4-0 edge in penalty corners.
  • Down the stretch, a yellow card on Lock Haven gave La Salle an advantage for the final 4:48 but the LHU defense dug in and held the Explorers off the scoreboard.
UP NEXT
  • La Salle travels to Baltimore on Sunday to take on Towson in a non-conference contest.
  • The match is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m.
