Yanovich Scores in Field Hockey's 2-1 Loss at Towson

TOWSON, Md. - Sophomore Hannah Yanovich tallied her first goal of the season but the La Salle field hockey team could not overcome a slow start in a 2-1 loss at Towson on Sunday. The Explorers outshot the Tigers, 14-12, including by a 14-6 margin over the final three quarters of play with senior Rialee Allen registering a team-high five.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Towson peppered the net in the first quarter, totaling six shots and putting five on frame.
  • Redshirt junior goalkeeper Cassie Kincaid was up to the challenge on the first four, but the fifth from Samantha Aljets gave the home team a 1-0 advantage.
  • In the second quarter, the Explorers flipped the script and outshot the opposition by a 4-0 margin.
  • Freshman Cat McFadden put her attempt on goal but Lena Vandam made the stop for Towson.
  • Following halftime, the Tigers doubled their lead in the 41st minute as Aljets collected her second of the day.
  • Over the final four minutes of the period, Allen had three separate chances including two off penalty corners.
  • The Explorers never stopped fighting over the final 15 minutes, and finally saw their persistence pay off with Yanovich's goal coming with just 31 seconds left.
