Men's Swimming and Diving | March 19, 2021
PHILADELPHIA – After last week's postponement against Monmouth, La Salle swimming & diving is back in the pool on Saturday. The Explorers host Loyola (Md.) at 1 p.m. after both teams won their season-opening meets—the men vs. NJIT and the women vs. Stony Brook—at Kirk Pool two weeks previously.
ABOUT THE EXPLORERS
- On the men's side, junior Zachary Wolbert started the 2021 season strong with victories in both the 100 Fly and 200 IM.
- He was joined by sophomores Alex Kuriawa and Jake Kramer, both of whom won two events.
- For the women, it was junior Sara Rizzetto and freshman Sam Boyes who picked up multiple wins to start the campaign. Rizzetto shone in the 200 Free and 200 IM, while Boyes took the 50 Free and 100 Free in a fantastic debut.
- On the boards, junior Phoebe Shaya took the top spot in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives. Junior Steve Stasolla and sophomore Sam Henninger split the spoils of victory for the men with Henninger winning the 1-meter and Stasolla the 3-meter.
- Recent history: Both teams defeated the Greyhounds last season. Additionally, the men are currently on a five-meet winning streak against Loyola.
SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS
- Loyola is well into its 2021 campaign, having started on February 13 and competing in five meets (with another three postponed).
- The men have posted a 3-2 record thus far, while the women are 2-3.
- The Greyhounds have competed in one conference meet this season, a double win over American.
- Most recently, Loyola hosted Villanova last weekend. The teams split that meet with the Loyola men winning and the women falling to the Wildcats.
