PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle softball team (0-5, 0-2 A-10) was downed by Saint Joseph's (7-5, 2-0 A-10) in a pair of games Saturday afternoon at West Campus Field. The Hawks claimed both games after five innings with a score of 12-0 and 10-0.
SAINT JOSEPH'S 12, LA SALLE 0 – 5 INNINGS
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- SJU plated five runs in the first on six hits and one error. The following inning, the Hawks added one more.
- In the third, St. Joe's tallied an additional five runs to go up 11-0.
- In the visiting half of the fifth, Saint Joseph's scored an insurance run.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Rookie Tessa Dodson and sophomore Maddy Little each registered a hit apiece in two trips for La Salle's only knocks.
- Little and junior Natalie Rios also reached base safely with a walk each.
INSIDE THE CIRCLE:
- Junior Sarah Dowalo (0-3) picked up the loss with 2.1 innings of work. She allowed six earned runs on 13 hits.
- Sophomore Regan Ware entered for 2.2 innings of relief work and gave up just one earned on three hits and a walk.
SAINT JOSEPH'S 10, LA SALLE 0 – 5 INNINGS
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Hawks recorded one, five, and two runs over the first three innings, respectively, before adding two in the top of the fifth to go up 10-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Little, Rios, and junior Kaylee Piven each went 1-for-2 on the game.
INSIDE THE CIRCLE:
- Ware (0-2) took the loss with a complete five inning performance. She gave up eight earned runs on 14 hits and two walks, while striking out a pair.
