PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle softball team (0-7, 0-4 A-10) was edged in a twin bill Sunday afternoon by Saint Joseph's (9-5, 4-0 A-10) with the Hawks claiming both games 18-4 and 13-0 through five innings, respectively.
SAINT JOSEPH'S 18, LA SALLE 4 – FIVE INNINGS
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Hawks tallied eight runs in the opening frame on seven hits to take an early advantage.
- SJU added one in the second and four in the fourth before the Blue & Gold touched home.
- In the bottom of the fourth frame, sophomore Victoria Zatko launched a two-run shot over the fence in right center. Five batters later, classmate Mia Recenello doubled to center to score sophomore Lauren Begg and rookie Alyssa Fagans.
- The visitors claimed five more in the fifth to enact the run rule after La Salle couldn't close the gap in the home half.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Zatko's homer was the first of her career. She finished the game 2-for-3 with the long ball, two RBIs, and a run.
- Rookie Tessa Dodson also had a 2-for-3 performance as the designated player.
- Recenello, Fagans, Begg, and sophomore Maddy Little each recorded a base knock.
INSIDE THE CIRCLE:
- Junior Sarah Dowalo (0-4) went four innings with 13 earned runs on 14 hits and three walks.
- Sophomore Regan Ware entered for the final inning and allowed two earned runs on four hits and a free pass.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Hawks continued where they left off from game one with four in the first and five in the second.
- SJU pushed the lead to 13 with another four in the fourth.

- Dowalo threw the last 1.1 innings and gave up two hits.
