PHILADELPHIA – After over a week of rest coming off a road victory, the La Salle men's soccer team returns to action on Saturday for its home opener against city foe Drexel. Kick-off from McCarthy Stadium is set for 5 p.m. and the match will be streamed on ESPN+.

JUMPIN' JUNIOR
  • Freshman forward Junior Nare was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week on Monday following his performance in the Explorers' win at Mount St. Mary's (Md.).
  • Nare netted La Salle's first goal of the game on an assist from junior Eoghan McGovern to tie the score at one apiece in the ninth minute.
  • He also added an assist on the game-winning goal in the 58th minute to help the Explorers complete the comeback.
  • The Johannesburg, South Africa native has started in all three games and has seven shots and two shots on goal to his credit.
GOALS, GOALS, GOALS
  • After facing a 2-1 deficit early, the Explorers used three second-half goals to pick up their second road win of the season last Thursday at Mount St. Mary's, 5-3.
  • Junior Omari Cotterell tied the game up at two apiece in the 34th minute to send the two teams into the halftime break all knotted up.
  • Junior Ike Hollinger broke the tie with a penalty kick in the 55th minute before Nare found freshman Scott Beeks for another goal to make it 4-2.
  • Mount St. Mary's came back within a goal after a penalty kick, but junior Andrew Weir sent a cross to freshman Justin Brunow for the final goal to seal the win.
  • It was the most goals La Salle has scored in a game since a 5-3 win over George Washington on Nov. 11, 2017.
SCOUTING DREXEL
  • Drexel similarly has a 2-1 overall record and is 1-1 on the road.
  • The Dragons won at Villanova, 3-0, to open the season and then fell at Saint Joseph's, 2-0, this past weekend.
  • Drexel got its revenge on the Hawks on Wednesday though with a 4-0 shutout behind a two-goal, two-assist performance by Chris Donovan.
  • Donovan leads the team with three goals and three assists, while Laolu Daranijo has three goals and an assist.
  • Stephen Kopsachilis and Cameron Sanders have split time in goal, combining for a 0.67 goals against average and a .818 save percentage to go with two shutouts.
