Lacrosse Routs St. Bonaventure 14-3, Earns First Conference Win of the Season

PHILADELPHIA – In a dominant display across the board, La Salle lacrosse defeated St. Bonaventure 14-3 for its first conference win of the season. The Explorers now move to 3-1 at home this campaign.

Seniors Annina Iacobucci and Emilly Johnston, along with sophomore Tori Rolon all scored hattricks in the win. Senior Molly Loughlin shut the Bonnies down in goal, tallying nine saves on 12 shots.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • La Salle commanded the first half, scoring eight times across the opening 22 minutes and shutting the visitors out.
  • St. Bonaventure eventually got on the board with 6:44 remaining, but goals from Rolon and freshman Kira Sides pushed the Explorers to a 10-1 lead entering the half.
  • Graduate student Mikki Raymond and Iacobucci started off the second with scores to extend the advantage to 12-1.
  • Two goals from the Bonnies cut the deficit to nine, but the Blue & Gold responded with two of its own to wrap up the game, 14-3.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Beat the Bonnies: The Explorers extend their winning streak over St. Bonaventure to three games. They are unbeaten at McCarthy Stadium in six straight contests, dating back to 2010.
  • The win was the Blue & Gold's largest over an A-10 opponent since, you guessed it, St. Bonaventure in 2018 – a 14-2 win.
  • Johnston, Rolon and Iacobucci were the points leaders, along with senior Sarah Elias who scored once and assisted twice.
  • The other goal scorers were Raymond, Sides, seniors Bridget Ruskey and Allison Hunter. For Sides, her strike with 2:52 remaining in the opening half was her first collegiate goal.
  • Johnston again played a great all-around game, adding five draw controls and four ground balls to her stat line.
  • Rolon extended her streak of hattricks in the first half to three games this season, accounting for all of her scoring output.
  • As expected, the Explorers led most categories. Notably, they outshot St. Bonaventure 27-15, with seven more shots on goal. They led the turnover battle (12 to the Bonnies' 16), were nearly flawless on the clear (17-18) and finished with five more draw controls (17-12).
UP NEXT
  • La Salle travels to Duquesne on Friday before returning home to host Saint Joseph's on Sunday.
