Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Field Hockey Falls on the Road at UMass

AMHERST, Mass. - The La Salle University field hockey team entered halftime with the University of Massachusetts tied at 1-1 on Saturday. Three second-half goals by the Minutewomen proved too much in a 4-1 loss. Sophomore Samie Hackman registered her second goal of the year in defeat for the Explorers.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Scoreless through 11 minutes of play, La Salle took a lead on a beautiful tip goal from Hackman, who redirected a shot from sophomore Natalie Biliunas.
  • The lead held up for just over 10 minutes, as UMass tied the score midway through the second quarter.
  • Georgie McTear netted her first of two goals on the afternoon to put the score at 1-1.
  • Following intermission, the Minutewomen found the back of the cage once in the third quarter and two more times in the fourth to take control.
  • McTear had the eventual game-winner, while Katherine Furry and Emily Crawford tacked on the insurance goals.
  • Freshman Ryan Curley, who started the first game of her collegiate career, had 11 saves.
UP NEXT
  • La Salle returns to action for the final week of the season with contests at Lock Haven and Temple.
