PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle softball team (0-21, 0-14 A-10) was edged Friday afternoon 7-0 and 9-0 in five innings by league leading Fordham (27-5, 12-0 A-10).
FORDHAM 7, LA SALLE 0
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- It was a scoreless game through five innings of play before the Rams tallied three in the sixth with a two-run homer and a run off a wild pitch.
- Fordham pushed its lead to 7-0 after a grand slam in the top of the seventh.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Sophomore Mia Recenello accounted for one of two Explorer hits in game one.
- Senior Ashley Mendenhall had a pinch hit double in the bottom of the seventh.
- Three Explorers reached on a walk.
INSIDE THE CIRCLE:
- Junior Sarah Dowalo (0-12) tossed 6.1 innings with six earned runs on seven hits and two walks.
- Sophomore Regan Ware entered in relief for the final 0.2 innings. She struck out one and allowed one earned.
FORDHAM 9, LA SALLE 0 – FIVE INNINGS
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Neither team scored until the top of the third when Fordham strung together four hits for four runs.
- The Rams added five in the top of the fifth to enact the run rule.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Recenello and junior Natalie Rios accounted for La Salle's two hits as both reached on singles.
INSIDE THE CIRCLE:
- Ware (0-9) tossed a complete game and allowed nine earned on nine hits and a walk. She also struck out two.

La Salle concludes the series with Fordham on Saturday with a doubleheader starting a noon. Prior to the game, the Blue & Gold will recognize its two seniors.
