Field Hockey Upended by #19 Saint Joseph's

PHILADELPHIA - Senior Rialee Allen tallied her first goal of the 2021 season, but the La Salle field hockey team could not overcome a slow start in a 6-1 loss to No. 19 Saint Joseph's on Wednesday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Hawks began the scoring less than a minute in, when Anna Miller registered her second goal of the season.
  • SJU found the back of the cage three more times in the opening 15 minutes of action to lead 4-0 after the first quarter.
  • La Salle played a relatively even second quarter with the Hawks, and scored for the first time in the 20th minute when Allen converted off a feed from junior Tori Wright.
  • For Wright, who missed all of last season due to injury, it was her first career assist.
  • The second half was a near stalemate, with the Hawks scoring the lone goal of the final 30 minutes in the 42nd minute.
  • Freshman goalkeeper Ryan Curley, who entered at halftime, finished with three saves while redshirt junior Cassie Kincaid had six over the first two periods.
UP NEXT
  • La Salle continues a season-ending five-game road swing with a trip to Amherst, Mass., to take on UMass on Saturday, April 10.
  • The game is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
