FAIRFAX, Va. – The La Salle softball team (0-29) fell in a pair of non-conference games on Saturday afternoon at George Mason (17-17). The Patriots claimed game one 3-2 and game two 6-1.
 
GEORGE MASON 3, LA SALLE 2
HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Mason took a lead in the second with a pair of hits which resulted in a single run.
• The Blue & Gold answered in the third when sophomore Victoria Zatko reached on a fielder's choice and scored classmate Lauren Begg from third.
• George Mason took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the third after a single drove in a runner from second base.
• Zatko knotted things again, this time in the fifth as she connected on an RBI single through the right side.
• The home squad scored the game winner in the bottom of the sixth to secure a 3-2 win.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

• Four Explorers recorded a hit, led by junior Kaylee Piven with a 2-for-3 outing.
• Zatko had one hit in four trips with two RBIs.
• Begg went 1-for-1 with a pair of walks and runs.

INSIDE THE CIRCLE:

• Junior Sarah Dowalo (0-17) tossed a complete game with four strikeouts. She allowed three earned runs on seven hits and three walks.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• La Salle went ahead early with a sac fly by rookie Tessa Dodson.
• Mason knotted things at one apiece in the fourth with an RBI single through the right side.
• The Patriots opened the game up in the sixth with a five-run inning on five hits, including a two-run homer.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

• Sophomores Maddy Little and Casey Walker had La Salle's only hits on the game as each singled.

INSIDE THE CIRCLE:

• Sophomore Regan Ware (0-11) tossed six innings and struck out a pair. Ware gave up six earned runs on 10 hits and two walks.

La Salle concludes its season on Sunday with a single game against Mason at noon.
