DAYTON, Ohio – The La Salle women's soccer team dropped itsfirst loss of the A-10 campaign on the road at Baujan Field on Thursday evening in a 3-0 result.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • With just about four minutes off the clock, the Flyers capitalized on a fortuitous bounce to take the lead through Itala Gemelli with the first shot of the contest.
  • In the 35th minute, the Explorers would be forced to play the rest of the game with only 10 players. Naya Vialva, whose first foul of the contest was initially given a yellow card, was brandished a red card after deliberation amongst the officiating crew.
  • Despite playing a man down, the Explorers found some offensive inspiration in the second half. La Salle created four chances in the opening 15 minutes of the second frame, highlighted by a low strike to the bottom left corner from Emily Banashefski that was pushed out for a corner kick in the 61st.
  • Despite forcing five saves out of Dayton's Madelyn Dewey, the home side doubled its advantage with just over six minutes remaining in the contest.
  • Gemelli scored her second goal off a penalty kick in the 85th minute.
