Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Suffers Setback at Navy

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The La Salle men's soccer team (1-3) concluded a two-game road trip on Sunday, falling to Navy (3-0-1) by a score of 2-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Matt Nocita opened the scoring in the 25th minute for the Midshipmen, scoring his first goal of the season off a pass from Sidney Paris.
  • In the 35th minute, Navy looked to add to its lead but senior goalkeeper Mitch Foster stopped a prime scoring chance by Jacob Williams.
  • Towards the end of the first half, junior Isak Sedin nearly pulled La Salle even as he caught the Navy goalkeeper out of position. His shot appeared to be heading into the upper-right corner of the net, but a Navy defender was able to head it out of harm's way.
  • The Midshipmen added another goal in the 67th minute when Baba Kallie converted on a transition chance.
  • La Salle continued to put pressure on and had a number of shots to get closer, with the best coming when Dominick Bachstein hit the post on an effort from 18 yards out in the 82nd minute.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • The two teams each had 13 shots on the contest, with La Salle holding an 8-5 edge in shots on goal. 
  • The Explorers had seven corner kicks to Navy's five.
  • Tyler Fahning tallied seven saves to register the shutout in goal for the Midshipmen.
  • Charlie Collins, Justin Brunow, and Junior Nare each had two shots to lead La Salle.
UP NEXT:
  • The Explorers return to action on Saturday, Sept. 11 with a contest against Rider at McCarthy Stadium.
