Women's Swimming and Diving | January 14, 2022
PHILADELPHIA – For the first time in 2022, La Salle Swimming & Diving will be back in the pool for competition when the women's team takes on Fairfield and Richmond in a tri-meet, while the men face Fairfield in a dual on Saturday, Jan. 15 at 11 a.m. at Kirk Pool.
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
- La Salle is coming off a long layover, with the women's last appearance coming on Nov. 23 at Villanova, while the men last competed against NJIT on Dec. 3
- The men fell in that meeting with the Highlanders, dropping a 179-115 decision.
- Steven Stasolla picked up his third and fourth wins of the season with first place finishes in the three-meter (278.20) and one-meter (318.70).
- Zachary Wolbert picked up his fifth and sixth individual wins of the campaign with victories in the 200-yard butterfly as well as the 200-yard IM.
- Sara Rizzetto is set to continue her torrid place in 2022 after closing 2021 with eight individual wins.
- The senior's most recent victory came in the 200-yard freestyle against Villanova, where she dashed to a time of 1:52.59.
- Anne Moser, Iris Faur, and Toni Rafferty all also picked up individual wins against the Wildcats.
- Phoebe Shaya picked up her sixth diving win of the season with a victory in the three-meter.
SCOUTING THE SPIDERS:
- The defending Atlantic 10 champion, Richmond women's swimming & diving is coming off of a sixth-place finish in the Patriot Invite.
- The Spiders are 2-1 in three duals, with wins over Davidson and George Mason.
- Richmond is led by sophomore Alexa Connors, who took home Most Outstanding Rookie Performer honors in the 2021 Atlantic 10 Championships.
SCOUTING THE STAGS:
- Fairfield men's swimming & diving is off to a 3-1 dual record to begin their season.
- After dropping their season opener to Monmouth, the Stags have rattled off consecutive wins against Holy Cross, Providence, and Marist.
- The women's side holds an equal 3-1 record, with wins over Monmouth, Providence, and Marist.
- The men's side finished second in the MAAC Invitational, while the women's team ended in fourth in the MAAC.
