EASTON, Pa. – The La Salle women's basketball team remains in-state to face Lafayette in the team's third consecutive road game in five days this Tuesday, Nov. 22 at 6 p.m. The game will stream live on ESPN+.
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
- The Explorers will partake in third third-straight road game following back-to-back contests against both Pepperdine and Alaska Anchorage at the Great Alaska Shootout over the weekend.
- This marks the second time this season La Salle has played three consecutive games on the road starting off the season with visits to Howard, Sacred Heart and Niagara.
- The Explorers overcame a 14-point deficit, its largest deficit comeback of the season, to defeat Pepperdine in a tight 83-81 victory to advance to the championship round of the shootout against Alaska Anchorage. The margin of victory marked the second-straight game decided by five points or less for La Salle and is the tightest margin of victory for the Explorers this season.
- La Salle struggled against Alaska Anchorage's 3-point shooting to fall to the host team 88-75 for the second-place title in the tournament. Claire Jacobs and Kayla Spruill got the nod for the All-Tournament Team.
- Claire Jacobs led La Salle in the tournament scoring 27 points against the Waves followed by a 21-point performance against the Seawolves. She is just the second-Explorer this season to record 20-plus points in a game and the first to do it in more than one game this season. She went 8-of-8 from the line against the Waves making her the second player this season to shoot 100% (minimum 5) from the line in a single-game this season.
- Kayla Spruill joins Jacobs as the only other Explorer to hit double-figures in at least four games this season. Jacobs has reached 10-plus in four-straight games while Spruill has reached the mark in the last five consecutive contests. They are the only two members are the roster that are currently averaging double-digit scoring on the season.
- Fiona Connolly stepped up in the point guard position in the last two contests. The freshman averaged 8 assists through the two contests with a season-high nine against the Seawolves.
- Amy Jacobs has remained a consistent threat at the boards for La Salle. She pulled down four in the game against Alaska and is currently averaging 4.5 boards per game.
- The Explorers recorded their most attempts at the bucket this season in the contest against the Seawovles with 68 attempts in the game. The game against the Waves marked the first overtime battle for La Salle this season.
SCOUTING THE LEOPARDS:
- Lafayette enters the contest with a 1-4 record and are most recently coming off a 63-55 loss to Siena College last Saturday.
- Makayla Andrews was the leading scorer for Lafayette against Siena College scoring 18 points in 37 minutes played.
- Three Leopards had a double-digit scoring night against Siena with Andrews (18), Abby Antognoli (12), and Halee Smith (11) being the top three scorers.
- Freshman, Emma Shields, recorded three steals and assists in Lafayette's last game.
SERIES HISTORY:
- The contest will be the 14th overall matchup between the two teams. La Salle leads the all-time series 10-3 and currently has a two-game win streak.
- La Salle has only dropped one contest to Lafayette on the road.
- The Explorers look for its first road win against Lafayette since 2017.
- In the teams' last meeting, La Salle trailed by no more than four early in the first quarter, but a 14-3 run gave the Explorers the push they needed to claim the victory.
