LEXINGTON, Va. – The La Salle women's water polo team is set to travel to Lexington, Virginia to take on opponents Virginia Military Institute and Iona.
The Explorers will face VMI first on Saturday, March 19
th at 10 a.m. before playing Iona later that day at 2 p.m.
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
- La Salle is entering the weekend on a 10-game winning streak, after sweeping Mercyhurst, Salem, Gannon, and Mount St. Mary's last weekend at the La Salle Invitational. The Explorers' current record sits at 13-7.
- Kalista Hyham is storming into the weekend after leading the team with five goals against Salem. She had 14 total goals last weekend.
- Shanna Zuanich won the MAAC Conference Offensive Player of the Week. She totaled 18 assists and seven goals over the course of the weekend. She had a season-high nine assists and 12 points against Salem to set new program single-game records in each category.
SCOUTING THE KEYDETS:
- VMI comes into this weekend with a 3-11 overall record and is on a tough four-game losing streak.
- Sydney Shettleroe leads the team's offensive efforts this season with 34 goals in 14 games.
- Katie Lloyd looks to slow down the Explorers' offense as she sits in net with a .251 save percentage.
SCOUTING THE GAELS:
- Iona is coming into this weekend's contest with a 9-6 overall record. They enter the contest winning three straight games.
- The Gaels and Explorers came face to face earlier in the season with La Salle claiming the 14-11 vicotry.
- Mary Jane Bailey has defended the net for Iona this season and currently holds a .431 save percentage.
