EDISON, N.J. – La Salle women's water polo goalkeeper
Emma Gurasich was named this week's Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference's Defensive Player of the Week following back-to-back wins over the weekend.
Gurasich helped lead the Explorers to a 17-6 victory over VMI making three saves while adding three assists and five steals during her 16 minutes in the net. The junior then tied her season-high in saves with 12 in the 15-14 victory over Iona later that afternoon.
The Long Beach, California native has been a crucial element in the Explorers' current 13-game win streak, the longest in program history. This marks the third straight weekend in which La Salle has defeated all its opponents.
This is the second weekly honor for Gurasich this season. She last earned the mark earlier in the month following a 5-0 weekend in California that saw a total of 45 saves and 13 steals.
Gurasich and the Explorers will take the pool again this weekend on Saturday, Mar. 26 and Sunday, Mar. 27 against opponents LIU, Saint Francis, Siena and Marist.
